I played rather terribly in the Friday Night quads, losing all three of my games. I was (and still am) feeling rather ill with an intense head cold. Swimming around in a mental fog makes playing chess rather difficult, though I was committed to making an appearance at the Quads because I had promoted it among friends all week.

In any case, below is a game I played against Mena. At one point, I could have had a nice edge if I had found 13.Nc4 Bd7 14.Nb5 Ke7 15.c3 f4 16.Nxd4 fxg3 17.Nxc6 Bxc6 18.fxg3 when the material is even but White is clearly better due to black’s weak, doubled pawns in the center.
